Before November, 2016 – only about 5% of the country’s population lived in a state with legal recreational marijuana. After the 2016 election, another four states joined the ranks – raising the percentage of U.S. citizens with access to recreational marijuana fourfold, to 20%. That means that 1 in 5 Americans now live in a state where voters have decided to legalize recreational cannabis.

Welcome to Part II of our look into the most popular CBD brands in America. In this article we’ll explore the top six most popular high-CBD hemp derived products sold across America. Our winners were chosen by over 2,400 medical marijuana patients responding to a national survey conducted by HelloMD and the Brightfield Group. In that survey, possibly the largest of its kind, consumers were asked which CBD-rich brands and products were their favorites.


cbd-bottle-leafEstimated to reach $2.1 billion by 2020, the marketplace is rapidly expanding globally. The high-CBD marketplace is also extremely fragmented at the moment. Over 1000 different CBD brands were included in responses to this national survey. Of those 1000 CBD brands, 850 were marijuana-derived and 150 hemp-derived.

It was one of the largest medical surveys of its kind, delving into the consumer use of cannabidiol (CBD), the non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid found in marijuana and hemp. As part of the study, medical marijuana patients were asked to list their favorite brands of high-CBD marijuana.

New York State Doubles Down on Medical Marijuana Providers

Albany, N.Y. | State Doubles Number of Medical Marijuana Providers


It’s about to get a whole lot easier to buy quality weed (err, my bad – medical marijuana) in New York. Five new medical marijuana distributors have just been approved to operate in the state. This effectively doubles the number of state sanctioned medical marijuana distributors from five to ten.


The newly authorized distributors include Fiorello Pharmaceuticals, who plan to open at least one dispensary in Midtown Manhattan. Other locations being considered by the company are one in Uptown and another in Long Island.

St. Paul, Minn | State Expands Medical Marijuana Access

Effective August 1st, 2017, Minnesota residents who suffer from PTSD are now able to access medical cannabis from one of the state’s eight marijuana clinics. Until this expansion, only residents with the following conditions could qualify for medical marijuana in the state:


Cancer Glaucoma HIV/AIDS
Tourette Syndrome ALS Multiple Sclerosis
Crohn’s Disease Terminal Illness Intractable pain
As of August 1st: PTSD now a qualifying medical marijuana condition

On Thursday, July 28th, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) introduced legislation that would protect legal state medical marijuana users from the federal government. The amendment, known as the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendmentprohibits the Justice Department from spending any money that impedes state implemented medical marijuana laws. The amendment successfully passed the committee on the same day.


The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations is the largest and most powerful committee in the United States Senate. It has 31 members, is empowered by the U.S. constitution, and has control over all discretionary spending legislation.
