The most popular HEMP derived CBD Brands in America
Welcome to Part II of our look into the most popular CBD brands in America. In this article we’ll explore the top six most popular high-CBD hemp derived products sold across America. Our winners were chosen by over 2,400 medical marijuana patients responding to a national survey conducted by HelloMD and the Brightfield Group. In that survey, possibly the largest of its kind, consumers were asked which CBD-rich brands and products were their favorites.
Estimated to reach $2.1 billion by 2020, the marketplace is rapidly expanding globally. The high-CBD marketplace is also extremely fragmented at the moment. Over 1000 different CBD brands were included in responses to this national survey. Of those 1000 CBD brands, 850 were marijuana-derived and 150 hemp-derived.
In Part I of this series, the products were all marijuana-derived brands. In today’s article, we will be focused on top hemp-derived high-CBD brands.
Of those survey respondents that indicated they purchased hemp-derived CBD-rich brands, more than a quarter (28%) could not identify their favorite brand. For the remaining 72% that had a preferred CBD brand, six rose to the top – with one clear favorite leading the pack.
More than half of those responding to the survey indicated that their preferred CBD product was either “more effective” or “much more effective” than the prescription medications they were replacing. Those are impressive consumer satisfaction numbers! If you divide this subgroup up further, you will find that 53% were CBD-dominant consumers, 52% marijuana-derived CBD-only consumers, and 56% were hemp-derived CBD consumers!
It’s no wonder that so many are flocking to CBD-rich products. For some, it’s an opportunity to swap out harmful and addictive prescriptions with the natural healing properties of cannabidiol (CBD). CBD has been shown in repeated clinical studies to have potent neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties – all without psychoactive effects or harmful side-effects.
What about over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as Advil, Tylenol, etc.? Consumers in this survey overwhelmingly (66%) described their CBD product as being either “more effective” or “much more effective” in relieving their symptoms than OTC medications. Among hemp-derived CBD users, the percentage was even higher at 69%.
Consumers suffering from chronic pain, Crohn’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and chemotherapy, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, seek out CBD as a natural and powerful nutraceutical that is non-addictive, non-psychotropic and has few known side-effects.
And now, the TOP Six HEMP-derived CBD products in America…
HempMeds | 1.7%
According to the survey results, the sixth most popular hemp-derived CBD manufacturer in America is HempMeds. With offices in both Europe and California, HempMeds offers high quality CBD oil in a variety of excellent formulations. From oil concentrates, to tinctures, to drops and even botanical blends – HempMeds offers them all…
For starters, HempMeds offers two main lines of oral hemp oil concentrates: RSHO and RSHO-x. RSHO stands for Real Scientific Hemp Oil, and the -x indicates a line that contains zero-THC. RSHO concentrates are offered in a GREEN LABEL, a formulation that specifically retains more of the raw plant matter (chlorophyll, terpenes, vitamins, minerals, etc.); a BLUE LABEL formulation that is decarboxylated to increase bioavailability and potency, and unfiltered; and a GOLD LABEL formulation that is both filtered and decarboxylated – providing a potent, yet more refined experience.
RSHO-x contains zero-THC, making it an excellent choice for small children, emergency personnel, competitive athletes and others where zero tolerance for THC is a necessity. HempMeds states that it’s RSHO-x even meets strict international testing standards enforced by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Each 4 oz bottle comes complete with 1000 mg of CBD and zero THC.
HempMeds also offers a line of infused natural sublingual CBD botanicals. Made with hemp grown in the hills of Northern Europe, Dixie Botanicals are hemp oil tinctures that come in three different flavors: Natural, Cinnamon or Peppermint – each lightly sweetened with Stevia.
And is if that was not enough, HempMeds also offers a line of anti-aging skin care products called Cannabis Beauty Defined, a personal body care line branded Cibaderm, and a separate line of tinctures branded as Cibdex.
Bluebird Botanicals | 1.7%
Coming in at #5: Bluebird Botanicals offers three varieties of hemp CBD oil mixtures, each formulated at two different potencies. The Classic CBD oil blend is a full spectrum hemp extract blended with organic virgin hemp seed oil.
The Signature blend combines CBD with Wildcrafted Frankincense Serratta extract, blended with black cumin seed and hemp-seed oils. The third blend is branded Hemp Complete. It’s a 50:50 blend of raw (non-decarboxylated) and heated (decarboxylated) cannabinoids
(e.g. CBD, CBG). Also included in the Herb Complete blend is a steam distilled hemp extract containing 26 different aromatic terpenes, plus aldehydes and ketones.
Bluebird offers each of their three blends (Classic, Signature and Complete) in standard and in 6x potencies. The 6x potency provides at a minimum – 1,500 mg of cannabinoids per fluid ounce.
Bluebird tests every batch of its CBD products for complete cannabinoid profile, microbes, mold, heavy metals, residual solvents and pesticides. Proper testing is very important and the CBD Medical Journal reminds all consumers to accept nothing less than full, transparent product testing, plus public access to lot lab testing results. Each Bluebird product contains a batch # that can be used to pull up the lot profile online.
TetraLabs | 1.9%
The fourth most popular hemp-derived CBD brand originate from TetraLabs, based in California. TetraLabs is both a medical dispensary supporting medical cannabis patients within the state of California, and a top Hemp CBD manufacturer that ships hemp derived CBD-only products anywhere in the U.S.
“The TetraLabs mission is to research and develop pharmaceutical-grade medical cannabis products for patients with serious illness who require the safest and most dependable medicine available.”
When you visit TetraLabs.com, you will see opportunities to join the medical collective, but this is only intended for California medical-cannabis patients intending to purchase products that contain THC. For those only interested in Hemp-derived CBD, there is no need to join anything.
Vaporizer Cartridges, Softgels and Oral Sprays
TetraLabs offers three principle CBD-only hemp derived products. GoldCaps CBD softgels are made from 99% pure crystalized CBD made from natural hemp plant extract and buffered in grape seed oil. The softgels are available in 5 mg and 10 mg potencies and the manufacturer claim that their softgels ‘provide a clinically precise, metered dosage of CBD – thanks to specialized manufacturing and strict laboratory testing.’
Another great way to enjoy TetraLabs hemp CBD is with their micro-atomized oral sprays. By choosing an micro-atomized oral spray, you are choosing to absorb CBD sublingually – thru your oral
mucosa directly into your bloodstream. By absorbing CBD sublingually, you are avoiding “first-pass metabolism” and degradation by the liver. Clinical studies indicate that “first-pass metabolism” of cannabinoids is significant and can reduce the potency of ‘stomach-digested‘ CBD by as much as 96%.
Result: When you vape or absorb CBD sublingually, more CBD gets into your bloodstream and less gets metabolized (deactivated) by the liver.
GoldCart CBD is TetraLabs brand for their zero-THC, hemp-derived CBD-only vaporizer cartridges. The 1/2 gram cartridges contain 100 mg of colorless, non-psychoactive CBD from hemp. When you vape CBD, you do so without producing harmful combustion byproducts such as carbon monoxide or particulate matter.
Each cartridge provides between 100 – 200 ‘puffs,’ for a total of 100 mg of CBD.

Mary’s Nutritionals, the third most popular brand of hemp-derived CBD is another manufacturer that offers both medical marijuana-based CBD and hemp-derived CBD products. Plus CBD Oil | 3.6%
PlusCBD, the manufacturers of Plus CBD Oil, have corporate offices in a small quaint town located in Surrey, England. That’s not surprising, since PlusCBD sources all of it’s hemp within Europe – using EU certified hemp seeds.
A family founded business, CEO Michael Mona Jr. and COO Michael Mona III – see PlusCBD as “pioneering the future of hemp.” With offices in both Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA, PlusCBD is firmly rooted in the U.S.
Why EU Hemp?
When asked why PlusCBD sources it’s hemp from EU growers instead of U.S. growers, PlusCBD responded by saying that this is only done due to current agricultural restrictions in the U.S. that significantly limit the scale and breadth of hemp grows. PlusCBD hopes that one day regulations will allow it to locally source hemp for the U.S. market. For now, all of the hemp used to make PlusCBD products is European grown and certified.
PlusCBD’s most popular CBD product is by far the Plus CBD Oil Spray. A one ounce bottle contains 80 doses of hemp-derived CBD. Each vegan-friendly, non-GMO, gluten-free dose supplies 1 mg of CBD – and is available in vanilla, peppermint or unflavored blends. PlusCBD’s Oil Spray is a sublingual formulation to ensure bioavailability – CBD is absorbed under the tongue, directly into the bloodstream.
PlusCBD also offers CBD Oil drops, capsules and softgels, as well as two potencies of their CBD Oil Balm. Looking for a potent CBD paste for eating and cooking?
Made using decarboxylated and distilled CO2 hemp extract, PlusCBD offers their highest potency of CBD, CBC and CBG cannabinoids in their CBD Oil Gold Formula Oral Applicators. Each 10g Gold oral applicator contains an impressive 2400 mg of hemp-derived CBD.
PlusCBD leverages state-of-the-art equipment such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to ensure the quality, purity and potency of its products. PlusCBD uses HPLC to test every lot for pesticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, residual solvents, as well as heavy metal and microbiological contamination. In addition, PlusCBD employs third-party lab testing at SC Laboratories for independent analyses and verification.
